Mobil 1 (Commercial)

We had the pleasure to work with the Formula 1 star, Max Verstappen for a Mobil 1 commercial.

This was a two day shoot, the first being in Nice close to Max’s home in Monaco. We flew out and set up a green screen studio to capture Max’s parts. The weather was your typical south of France glorious sunshine and the studio light and airy. We had our French crew counterparts taking care of light rigging and camera assisting. Max’s parts only took an hour or so. Everything went very smoothly and we were able to get a nice clean key from the footage.

The second day was shooting super slow motion footage at Love High Speed’s studio in Wembley on the Phantom Flex 4K. Since we were shooting up to 2000 fps, a copious amount of lighting was required and thus we rolled in the big guns from Panalux with some 20K tungstens. We filmed three high impact setups. A big steel pile driver smashing a bottle of champagne, an industrial band sander ripping up a picture frame and a trophy being blasted by a flamethrower.

Shot on a Phantom Flex 4K with Leica Summilux-C cine lenses and a very special vintage Canon 200mm f/1.8 Optex PL lens that is touted to be the fastest 200mm around and is nicknamed the ‘Eye of Sauron’. We also used a Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K as a B Cam and a Blackmagic Pocket 4K as a C Cam. We also had a playback station on set to comp Max into the scenes live which is always handy.
